All Wishes

DJ was determined that no one would treat him differently and that he was going to win the fight against cancer. A beloved only child, his mom and dad agreed that they would try everything they could to save their son's life. DJ dreamed about what his wish would be for a long time. He decided that he wanted to fly to Arizona and play video games with his cousins, but by that time his health had deteriorated too much. Wishes Can Happen flew his cousins to Ohio who stayed in Cleveland so they could be with DJ every day at the Cleveland Clinic, with DJ doing his best to be released before they went back to Arizona. While he was in the hospital, Wishes Can Happen turned the upstairs bedroom into a "man cave" for DJ - complete with new carpet donated by Dan's Carpet in Louisville, a gaming recliner, a new TV and gaming system, cool accessories, and even a mini-frig stocked with all DJ's favorite. Our friends at Thomas Limousine picked DJ up from the Cleveland Clinic to bring him home. Just outside of his hometown, he was escorted to his home by the Louisville Police to a true "Heroe's Welcome." Wishes had set up a tent, decorated it in his school colors, and hundreds of children made special signs that were displayed in the tent wishing DJ well.

DJ lost his battle with cancer shortly after receiving his wish. But through it all, he was PATTERSON STRONG. Wishes Can Happen extends their deepest sympathy to all who knew and loved this little man.
