Easton Towne Center Shopping Spree for Jessy

Diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, Jessy lost quite a bit of weight during treatment and wanted to go on a shopping spree at Easton Towne Center in Columbus to replenish her wardrobe. Wishes Can Happen sent Jessy and her mom for a “power shopping spree” in 2007 that included all her favorite stores, and in Jessy’s own words, “I think mom and I could do a lot of damage!” When asked what stores and restaurants she might be interested in, they included the following list:

Aeropostale, American Eagle, Banana Republic, Bath and Body, Buckeye Corner, Buckle, Cheryle and Company, Chico's, Crate and Barrel, Delia's, Eddie Bauer, Express, Footlocker, Forever 21, Gap, The Limited, Lucky Brand, Macy's, Nordstrom, Bebe Lacoste Co., Dell Direct, Pac Sun, New York and Co., Pottery Barn, Victoria’s Secret, Wet Seal, and Modern Nails!

As you can see, this is a girl who knows what she likes! Visiting nearly every store, Wishes Can Happen negotiated discounts to make her spree go even further. And no shopping spree would be complete without special experiences at The Cheesecake Factory, Melting Pot and Gameworks! Mom and daughter were also honored as special guests at the Funny Bone Comedy Club, a horse drawn carriage ride and a dinner show at the Shadow Box Cabaret. The icing on the cake? A portrait session at Kent Smith Photography to forever commemorate their trip! Jessy and mom truly shopped ‘til they dropped and had a great time.

After a long fought battle with cancer of 10 years, Jessy passed away in 2015. She embodied the spirit of “Fight Like a Girl.” Prior to her passing, an artist painted the words “fearless” on her arm – she truly was, and we’re so glad we were able to know her through doing her wish over these past many years. Wishes Can Happen extends our most sincere sympathy to her family and friends, including her beloved “furry friends” – Bruser and Rocco."
