A lover of basketball, Mickey has been battling off the court for a few years now with his health. We're glad to FINALLY get him back on the court, HIS VERY OWN COURT! A basketball/pickleball court! Today we had the pleasure of being a part an absolutely special event. We were a part of Wishes Can Happen. Wishes Can Happen is a non-profit, local wish granting organization that grants wishes to children, ages 3-21, with life-threatening illnesses. Wishes Can Happen was founded in 1982 and is funded by the generosity of the community. Well, today they granted a wish to a young Louisville student named Mickey Beatty. Mickey is a 7th grader at Louisville Middle School. He has aplastic anemia and they learned of Mickey’s case from facebook in 2022 from the Mickey Strong page. Due to the ups and downs of Mickey’s health, it took some time for him to determine what he wanted his wish to be as well as when to take it. He looked at many different opportunities and things he could wish for. However, when it came time to decide, he came up with quite a project. He chose a basketball court and designed it himself! Wishes can happen with Mickey’s family as well as Snap Sports and Collins Excavating and Concrete to make the dream a reality. The basketball court also doubles as a pickleball court! Through donations from those companies and others they were able to save more than $22,000 to make this project happen. Joined by the Louisville high school basketball team & coaching staff, his 7th grade basketball team, Louisville Staffers & Admins along with family, friends and special guests they presented the court along with the boys basketball logo, which he had wished for as well. All in all, it was a fantastic day and a day worth being involved in. We appreciate all those that allow us to be a part of this special day. We also wish many many years of enjoyment on his court.
